On this rainy and later snowy March day here in Northern Virginia, I wanted to share some sunshine and signs of spring. These photos were taken at the National Mall near the Cherry Blossom Festival. The National Park Service has a beautiful tulip garden that blooms every spring around the same time.
First planted in 1969, I'm not sure how many different kinds of tulips there are, but there is a huge variety (about 10,000 bulbs are imported and planted), some of which I'd never have pegged as being a tulip. Simply gorgeous!
