Gardening adventures: Macro photos of Asiatic lilies

It seems everything is blooming a little later than usual this year, probably due to the extended cool weather and the heavy rain last month. Suddenly, everything is coming into bloom now.

I've been spending time in the yard photographing the lilies. We've planted four Asiatic lily plants over the last 1 to 3 years and they are spreading nicely with one cluster (the pink one below) having more than 40 buds. I decided to take a few macro shots over the past week.

Frogs spotted at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park (Chantilly, Va.)

Over spring break we really enjoyed exploring the nature to be found at the Ellanor C. Lawrence Park out in Chantilly, Virginia. There were geese, turtles, fish, birds, snakes and all sorts of land and water critters. And there were frogs. I hadn't seen so many since I lived up in New York on a lake.

Frog and snake - I was trying to get a shot of the snake at first without even realizing the frog was hanging out nearby

Dandelion macros: Before and after the seed

In recent years I've been looking at dandelions a lot differently than I used to. Often considered a weed, when looking at them from another perspective I think they are rather pretty.

I attempted to take some dandelion macro shots in my yard recently. These are the results.
